Labor Day Weekend Stay-Cation at Lake Lanier and Lake Allatoona

We had the most incredible and fun Labor Day weekend. Our no plans long weekend turned into a weekend filled with sunshine, perfect weather and lots of time on the lake.

Friday evening, we went to our neighborhood pool for cocktails with a couple of our neighbors and swimming with the boys. It is getting darker earlier which means the sun is dipping behind the trees, making the pool a lot cooler–so needless to say, we didn’t stay too long but did enjoy the time we had! Both boys are loving to jump in the water and spend time playing “washing machine” (where I swing the boys around!).

Saturday morning, we headed to Lake Lanier for an afternoon of boating with our little family. We even took our Boykin Spaniel, Scout, with us (poor girl hasn’t been on the lake much because of ear infections). The boys loved playing on the sand and swimming with Scout. Much to our surprise, there were not many people at the lake on Saturday. The temps were in the low 80’s with a cool breeze which was perfect weather in my opinion.

We headed to Lake Allatoona on Sunday morning with some our neighbors (who are good friends!). We kept our boat on Allatoona the first year we lived in Atlanta, but haven’t made it back until this past weekend. It was fun to get a change of scenery and enjoy a different lake. The boys loved hanging out with their friends and Reid loved playing on their lily pad (Drew is currently researching getting one for our boat!). We spent all day on the lake which was amazing (Walker even took a nap on their boat!).

Following the lake, we went over to another neighbor’s house for dinner. The boys loved playing with all new toys and we enjoyed drinks and great conversations. A huge positive that came out of the pandemic is that we have gotten close with some of our neighbors. While we are all still very cautious, it is nice to get together with friends. We truly love where we live and have some of the sweetest neighbors.

Monday morning, I woke up and went on a 8 mile run down by the river. It was great to have a fresh set of legs (I hadn’t run since Thursday) and the fall-like temperatures were absolutely glorious! Following Drew’s bike ride, we took the boys to the nearby elementary school for scooter rides. The boys are still loving their scooters :). We ended up walking to Publix to pick up a sub on the walk home and enjoyed it on our back porch before naps. Following nap time, we all threw on our bathing suits for a quick swim before grilling out for Labor Day.

We had the best Labor Day weekend and enjoyed spending time with neighbors who have become great friends! I hope that everyone had a wonderful long weekend and feels extra refreshed going into this short work week ahead 🙂

Stay safe and healthy, friends!
